The Jets took a big risk making wide receiver Eric Decker (hamstring) active for Monday night’s game against the Bears at MetLife Stadium. It didn’t work out as they would have hoped.
Decker started the game but after apparently aggravating an existing hamstring injury, his return was ruled out before the start of the fourth quarter.
Decker hauled in a 19-yard catch but that was all he produced and he could be seen holding his helmet in his hand for most of the second quarter.
His status for Week 4 is very much in doubt. A bit of good news is Decker said after the game he took himself out rather than take a chance of doing more damage for down the road and that it gradually tightened up during the game. Jeremy Kerley, David Nelson and Greg Salas would see increased time if Decker isn't a go.
