This is a bit of a surprise. The tweet went on to say the Texans weren’t happy with his work habits. Ferguson, Howell and Jones seem the likely candidates to earn the RB2 spot. Higdon and Crockett are undrafted free agents. For Miller owners, this is a story to follow in the weeks ahead.

The Texans could have used Donta Foreman last season. They plan to use him a lot this season.

Foreman spent 2018 rehabbing from an Achilles’ tear, playing only one game and getting only nine touches. He’s healthy now, so the Texans expect to get the best version of Foreman.

“He’s light-years ahead of where he was last year at this time, coming off the injury and everything,” Texans running backs coach Danny Barrett said last month, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “I still think he’s continuing to work hard. I think he’s had a good offseason to date. The time away from here, I thought was well spent for himself. Getting ready to go physically, and I think mentally, right now, is what I look at is each and every day."

The story said the Texans need Donta Foreman to stay healthy this year to back up Miller. The Athletic’s Aaron Reiss, who covers the Texans, said recently, “Lamar Miller will remain the team’s lead back.” Miller is a good target for owners who go WR-heavy early in the draft or are looking for a third RB in the sixth round.

Miller left Saturday's game early and did not return. While Blue could get a majority of the work anyway, Foreman could see some touches as well, especially if Miller can't go. Foreman doesn't seem like a great play even if Miller is inactive.

The Texans activated former University of Texas running back DOnta Foreman from the reserve-physically unable to perform list, a transaction that should bolster an already strong running game.

Foreman has made a full recovery from a torn Achilles tendon. He said last week he has regained his explosiveness and cutting ability. The Texans had until Thursday to activate Foreman, according to the story. The Texans have been running the ball well lately with Miller and Blue so Foreman may not have much fantasy value the rest of this season.

This is the first week that he was eligible to return to practice. Once activated, the Texans would have three weeks to decide whether to place him on the active roster or IR reserve list, so all of that is being considered said O'Brien.
