The Jared Goff era is about to begin in Los Angeles after all.

The rookie quarterback and first-overall selection of the 2016 NFL Draft is set to start in Week 11 against the Miami Dolphins, NFL Network's Michael Silver reported. ESPN first reported the news.

The Rams didn't feel Goff was ready to start the season over Case Keenum, and even recently HC Jeff Fisher didn't exactly endorse the rookie saying Goff would get his chance once the Rams were eliminated from the playoffs. While it was just the preseason, Goff struggled throwing two interceptions and fumbling three times. Goff probably has more upside the Keenum, and you can even argue he has better weapons to throw to than Eagle rookie Carson Wentz, but it's tough to tell what you're going to get in Goff's first NFL game. He may be worth grabbing in two-QB leagues if you need help at the position, but in typical leagues there will likely be better options and he's certainly risky to immediately throw into lineups this week.

The Los Angeles faithful's "We want Goff!" chants are falling on deaf ears.

Appearing on Monday's edition of Good Morning Football, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the Rams have no plans to make a quarterback change to Jared Goff as long as the postseason remains a possibility.

"My understanding of the Rams quarterback situation," Rapoport said, "is that they're not going to make a switch -- barring some sort of epic collapse by Case Keenum -- until they fall out of playoff contention."

As the 3-5 Rams embark on a Week 10 showdown with the Jets, they are operating under the belief that Keenum is their best quarterback. They also believe that the rest of the offense isn't functioning at a high-enough level to support the raw rookie - that mostly points to struggling RB Todd Gurley.

The Rams have insisted they’re only going to play quarterback Jared Goff when he’s ready to play.

It appears they’re trying to get him ready to play.

According to Rams coach Jeff Fisher, the first overall pick in last year’s draft will get more work with the starters during the bye week.

“Jared’s going to get some reps, which is a by product of the bye week,” Fisher said. “I don’t feel like Case needs the reps Wednesday and early next week, so Jared will get those reps, which is good.

Keenum threw four picks last week and now has 10 INTs to just 8 TDs.

Case Keenum isn't supposed to be the Los Angeles Rams' quarterback for very long, but he is progressively proving that he needs to remain that guy in the present.

On Sunday, in a 17-13 road win over the Arizona Cardinals and their ferocious secondary, Keenum went 18-of-30 for 266 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 111.2 passer rating. His past three games, he has gone a combined 50-of-86 for 695 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. In his past eight games, dating to the final quarter of the previous season, the Rams have won six times.

Jared Goff, the No. 1 overall pick, will continue to sit as the Rams are 3-1. As the story pointed out, every week the talk gets a little bit quieter, pushed a little bit further to the background when it comes to Goff. This despite the success of guys like Dak Prescott in Dallas and Carson Wentz in Philly.

The Rams are averaging 4.5 points per game, and their starting quarterback is statistically one of the worst in the NFL.

But they’re still 1-1, and Jared Goff apparently still isn’t ready, so Jeff Fisher is going to keep trotting Case Keenum out there.

Via Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, Fisher made it clear that Keenum would remain the starter Sunday when the Rams play the Buccaneers on the road.

“We need more production out of our offense, and all things point to the quarterback position,” Fisher said. “But I’m expecting Case to continue to get better in this offense and we’re going to win games and score points.”

The Rams were shut out in the opener. In fact. they didn’t even get to the red zone, and Keenum threw two interceptions in the opening loss. In beating the Seahawks Sunday, he was barely better, leading them to three field goals, which makes them the only team in the league without an offensive touchdown, the story said. All this while number-two pick Carson Wentz is having early-season success with the Eagles.

Coach Jeff Fisher said last week that first overall pick Jared Goff will likely be the No. 3 quarterback and said Tuesday that nothing has changed on that front.

That means Goff is slated to be in street clothes Sunday with Sean Mannion backing up Case Keenum, although the coach added that things will flip for Week Two.
