The Patriots have released WR Antonio Brown.
That was extremely quick. He lasts just one game in New England. But in the end, the whirlwind of news off the field surrounding Brown was too much to ignore and the Patriots decided to just cut their losses on Brown. The Patriots will eat almost $6 million in 2019 and almost $5 million in dead money by releasing Brown. Even without Brown, the Patriots still field a pretty dynamic receiving group with Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman and a rising Phillip Dorsett. The big question now is where Brown's next opportunity will be. If it couldn't happen in New England, it may be a good while before another team comes calling, especially the drama that will inevitably follow. Brown may be in for a long wait before suiting up and worrying about which helmet he will be playing with.
