Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant isn't sure the shot to the head he took Saturday night was severe enough to prohibit him from playing, but because the National Football League has adopted a strict protocol for allowing concussed players back on the field, he has been sidelined indefinitely.
Coach Mike McCarthy said there's a chance Grant will take part in the evening practice Tuesday night, but Grant has to be cleared by a neurologist first. Grant said he passed with flying colors a cognitive test that compares scores with a baseline test taken before the season and hasn't had any lingering dizziness or headaches.
"I got cleared at least to work out and run around a little bit," he said Monday. "I feel pretty good."
This is great news for Grant but fantasy owners should prepare for line-up alterations just in case. The NFL is going to closely monitor this situation as concussion injuries have come to the forefront.
