Rivers: Vincent Brown is "everything you'd want in a wide receiver"
Chargers QB Philip Rivers on WR Vincent Brown: “He's everything you'd want in a wide receiver.”
Brown started four games as a rookie. He was raw, understandably between the lockout and a hamstring injury in training camp, but the ability was there with 13 catches, 234 yards and a touchdown in those starts.
“He runs great great routes, he's strong to the ball, he has huge hands, he has range, and he's a guy you trust,” Rivers said.
"He's an easy guy to throw the ball to," Rivers said. "He's so smooth, so strong to the ball, so sharp. ... If he can be out there on a consistent basis, which obviously if he is healthy he will be, people are going to say, 'Shoot, he's one of the staples of (their) offense.'"
As the WR3 in 2011, Brown averaged 2.4-41-.25 in eight games, and posted a solid 1.12 fantasy points per target (FP/T). With Danario Alexander out for the year, he figures to be the top WR in the San Diego offense. Injuries are a concern, however. Consider him a fringe WR3 with upside.
