Packers RB Aaron Jones told reporters that he felt his calf get tight during practice yesterday (Thursday). He did not practice Friday but he feels "confident I can play" but added that he knows "our doctors and trainers have the players' best interests in mind."

Jones is as important to the Packers offense as any player not named Aaron Rodgers. His absence would make the Packers offense a lot less exciting to utilize despite a juicy matchup against the Houston Texans.

Raiders quarterback Marcus Mariota is ready to return as Derek Carr‘s backup.

Mariota has been designated for return from the Raiders’ practice squad.

The story said he’ll presumably move ahead of Nathan Peterman on the depth chart as the No. 2 quarterback in Las Vegas.

But the Packers also have an integral offensive weapon behind Aaron Jones in Jamaal Williams, the 2017 fourth-round pick who the Packers selected one round before Jones.

On a night when the Packers didn’t have Adams or Lazard, Williams caught a career-high eight passes for a career-high 95 yards, including an acrobatic 29-yard sideline grab similar to the 30-yard reception Jones made against the Lions in Week 2.

Twitter was a buzz during the game when Williams was on the field most of the second quarter, even after Jones scored a TD and was a factor early in the game. There was never a reason given for Jones missing all that time and beat reporters said he was on the sideline with his helmet on. Jones started in the second half and continue to play after that, but time off the field opened the door for Williams to produce a pretty big fantasy night.

Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams broke a bit of news on Monday morning, revealing via Twitter that he won’t be playing against the Atlanta Falcons on “Monday Night Football.”

In case the tweet from Adams gets deleted, here’s the full, unedited copy: “Sorry fans and friends I wont be on the field tonight. I’ve done everything I need to do and proved Im ready but I guess I don’t know my body as well as others. Good luck out there my boys”.

Adams wrote he did “everything” to recover and “proved” he was ready to play but the Packers medical staff had the final say and apparently overruled him, meaning he’ll miss a second-straight game with a hamstring injury, the story said. With Adams apparently out, Valdes-Scantling gets a bump in value as does TE Tonyan. Taylor could also be a factor.
