Kamara could have a massive role in the offense this weekend if he's a full go, with rookie Spencer Rattler seeing his first NFL action. If he ends up missing, the team has already shown that they don't trust Miller, so Williams would presumably operate as the RB1.

Most of the RB duties are likely to fall on Kamara and Williams. The team also let go James Robinson, leaving Mims as the perhaps the team's RB3. It's possible the Saints will have to make another move at RB before the start of the season.

The Saints will have WR Chris Olave (ankle) tonight, and young RB Kendre Miller (ankle) is likely to play, as well.

Miller has been out since Week 9, and hadn't seen continuous usage since Week 5 (12-37-0), when Kamara was still serving his suspension. The rookie is a fairly decent stash in very deep leagues, should anything happen to Kamara.

Miller played just three snaps and Williams had five carries against the Jags. Meanwhile, Kamara ran 17 times for 62 yards and also caught 12 more passes, giving him 29 touches for the game. While that's great for fantasy owners, the Saints would probably like to cut back the workload of Kamara just a bit, to make sure he stays healthy for the remainder of the season.

While the news shouldn't have you rushing to put Williams, fresh off IR, onto your squad, it does lower the ceiling of the rest of the Saints, as the former Lion is an adept goal-line presence. Once he gets his footing, he could be a fantasy option in positive matchups.

The NFL’s daily transaction report shows that Williams has been designated to return from injured reserve. Williams injured his hamstring in Week 2 and became eligible to return to the active roster after last Sunday’s loss to the Texans.

Williams can practice with the team for the next 21 days. He can be activated at any point in that window, so he could play against Jacksonville on Thursday night. If he’s not activated in the three-week span, he won’t be able to return this season. Williams ran 27 times for 74 yards and caught two passes for seven yards before his injury, the story all said. He'll likely form a 1-2 punch with Kamara once he's back, much like Mark Ingram from recent years.

Kamara caught 13 balls for 33 yards. Unfortunately, the 33 yards isn't a typo, and, according to the story, was the first time that a player had 13 or more catches and so few yards. The previous record was set by Buccaneers running back James Wilder, a name from Tecmo Bowl days, who had 13 receptions for 71 yards in 1985. The good news for Kamara owners is it looks like he could see a lot of work out of the backfield, especially with Williams on IR.

Kamara was suspended for the first three games of the season after he pleaded no contest to breach of the peace in connection with a beating that left a man hospitalized. The timing is good for the Saints, whose offense is in a state of flux after quarterback Derek Carr suffered an injured throwing shoulder in Sunday’s loss to the Packers, the story said.
