Jets WR Eric Decker has shoulder surgery

Jets wide receiver Eric Decker on Tuesday underwent surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his shoulder. The surgery was expected.

This was the second of two recent surgeries for Decker, who had hip surgery Oct. 18. The shoulder injury resulted in Decker being placed on season-ending injured reserve after he played in just three games this season.

When the Jets announced Decker's hip surgery, right after it happened, they said the recovery time would be six months, and that Decker would have shoulder surgery once he was off crutches. The Jets said the shoulder surgery's recovery time would be eight months.

The recovery times will now run concurrently. An eight-month recovery period from the shoulder surgery would run until mid-July, right before training camp begins.

Fantasy Impact:

Jets coach Todd Bowles has said he's not sure if Decker will be ready for the start of the 2017 season, but Decker has insisted he will not miss any game action.
