Saints RB Coach: Adrian Peterson will break out
"It's just a matter of time," said Saints RB coach Joel Thomas of Adrian Peterson. "I really feel like this block, it's going to break.
"We just have to keep on chipping and you keep grinding, keep getting after something and ultimately something positive is going to come out of this."
Mark Ingram leads the Saints in attempts (42) and rushing yards (170), while rookie Alvin Kamara leads the team in targets (28), receptions (20), and receiving yards (147) at the running back position. Kamara is also the only Saints RB to score a touchdown (has one rushing and one receiving). Peterson has recorded a measly 85 total yards on a combined 29 touches for a yards-per-touch average of 2.9. He's averaging a team-worst 17% of the snaps at RB and played a season-low 6 snaps last week. Until Peterson does something worthwhile on the field, he should remain on your bench. That breakout Thomas envisions may never come.
