Bucs RB Doug Martin prepared for an increased workload

Martin made his debut last week, playing on 26 of the team's 72 snaps—second-most at the RB position behind Charles Sims (32)—but he's ready to take on more work this week.

“I feel like I can handle anything coach asks me to do,’’ Martin said. “I’m prepared to do everything.’’

Fantasy Impact:

While Martin was second in snaps to Sims last week, he led the team in carries (13) and rushing yards (74). He also scored a touchdown—something he didn't do much of last season, scoring only 3 TDs in eight games. It's good to hear Martin is ready for more work as fantasy owners could use another reliable option at RB each week. In a somewhat difficult matchup versus Arizona this week, according to our aFPA metric, we have Martin ranked as our No. 15 RB in standard leagues.

Reunion: Veteran WR Mike Williams is returning to the Chargers on a one-year deal worth up to $6 million, per source.

Fantasy Impact:

This is a nice low-risk offer to get a pure X receiver back for Justin Herbert. With Williams lining up out wide in the 80% range, even if he comes back as the team's No. 2 option, it shouldn't have much of an impact on McConkey, but it could push Johnston back into more of a complementary role after his high-usage 2024 season.

Williams should stick back in the WR4/5 range for fantasy purposes.

RB Rico Dowdle signs one-year deal with Panthers

The Panthers have agreed to a 1-year deal with RB Rico Dowdle, per league source.

Fantasy Impact:

Carolina recently released Miles Sanders, so Dowdle should operate as an upgrade over the veteran. This is a much bigger hit to Hubbard's fantasy ceiling than Sanders functioned as last season, but it's not the best spot for Dowdle's fantasy aspirations, either.

If there are no more additions to the backfield, we should consider Hubbard a low-end RB2 and Dowdle a fringe RB3/4.

TE Evan Engram signing two-year deal with Broncos

Broncos are signing two-time Pro-Bowl TE Evan Engram to a two-year deal. Denver has been seeking TE help in recent seasons and now finally has found some.

Fantasy Impact:

Much like in his college years, Bo Nix checked the ball down at a massive rate, which just so happens to be where Engram makes most of his noise. Though he's never been a huge run-after-catch option, Engram could find himself with enough volume to flirt with another 10-top fantasy season.
