Panthers RB Deangelo Williams had surgery Monday to address the foot/ankle problems that sidelined him for the last two games of the season, The Herald in Rock Hill, S.C., reported.
Herald beat writer Darin Gantt noted that Williams played in the Pro Bowl, so the injuries likely weren’t all that serious. Dr. Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist who’s the Panthers’ team doctor, performed the procedure.
Williams, a four-year pro, still managed to rush for 1,117 yards and seven touchdowns in 13 games this past season. He had a career-high 1,515 rushing yards and 20 total TDs in 2008.
