While Raiders Tom Cable's earlier raves about his progress may have been a bit much, receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey did OK for himself at the minicamp. There were still some drops, but nowhere near as many as at last year's. He even caught a deep pass from Campbell.

After a disappointing rookie season in which the No. 7 pick had nine catches for 124 yards, Heyward-Bey put on 10 pounds (he's now 6-foot-2, 216) working out this offseason. Cable said there has been a big difference in Heyward-Bey's work ethic from when he first came on the scene.

"Night and day," Cable said. "He was one of those guys, when the season got over, he took a very short time off and then was back working. He's with the equipment guys and the trainers, he's getting the Jugs (passing machine) out and 'I want somebody to throw me the ball.' (He) went right to work.
