New Washington Redskins QB Donovan McNabb wants to get the tight end more involved in the offense. How involved? As involved as TE Jason Witten is with the Cowboys' offense.
"The success Houston had last year with (tight end) Owen Daniels before he got hurt is something that we'd like to do in this offense, as well as what Dallas does with Witten,'' McNabb told reporters during the Redskins' mini-camp.
Cooley, who had injury problems, and TE Fred Davis combined for 77 receptions that produced 841 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Daniels had 40 catches for 519 yards and five touchdowns with the Texans. Witten had 94 catches for 1,030 yards and two touchdowns.
This certainly seems like good news and an increase in fantasy value for Cooley. McNabb is used to throwing his tight ends, too. In 2009 with Philadelphia, TE Brent Celek became a main target for McNabb, after a two-TD performance vs. Arizona in the NFC Championship game back in 2008.
