NFL Preseason DFS Week 2 Breakdown: Friday Slate
Week 2 of the preseason is usually the trickiest week in terms of projecting playing time because coaches approach it from different perspectives. Week 1 and 4 we usually see mostly reserve players. The starters get the most time in Week 3, sometimes upwards of three quarters. But Week 2 could see anything from starters being rested to them playing an entire half. It’s crucial to have your finger on the pulse of how each coach plans on approaching their second exhibition game.
Dolphins at Buccaneers
I listed this game first because it should have the biggest fantasy impact on this short slate. Bruce Arians and his pass-happy offense really let the ball rip last week against the Steelers and it should be more of the same. Again I would imagine Ryan Griffin will get the majority of the snaps at quarterback. The Buccaneers are a bit banged up. Justin Watson and Bobo Wilson are wide receiver targets and last week’s hero Tanner Hudson is a tight end target. I also like Dare Ogunbawale out of the backfield.
Preston Williams was the standout for the Dolphins last week and he has reportedly had a great week of practice again. The Dolphins are a bit banged up at the receiver position as well so he may get some run across units. I would stack him up with Josh Rosen who will most likely play with the second unit. Brice Butler is a nice pivot off the Williams hype as we saw how chalk Boykin and Arcega-Whiteside panned out yesterday. I don’t love the Dolphins running back situation as they distributed carries pretty evenly last week. With Kenyan Drake injured, Ballage may get all the first-team run. That situation will have to be monitored.
