Greg Lewis left the practice field last week with a portion of his jersey pulled over his head and trying to catch his breath. Lewis was physically spent -- but he wasn't complaining.
With Sidney Rice sidelined since the opening of training camp because of a hip injury and Percy Harvin missing all of the week after the death of his grandmother, Lewis is among the wide receivers who have gotten ample opportunity to show the coaching staff what they can do.
The Vikings opened camp with Rice, Harvin and Bernard Berrian considered locks to make the 53-man roster at receiver. Lewis might have had the edge to stick as the fourth receiver, but the competition for the final three spots (if the Vikings keep six) was considered to be fairly wide open.
