Fantasy Football Week 7 Recap: 14 Things You Need To Know
Week 7 is nearly in the books. Scores were relatively low across the league, as several high-power offenses were on a bye. We were missing a number of typically reliable fantasy performers. Still, a number of players stepped up to carry the load for fantasy managers. Here are some of the most notable takeaways.
Bright Stars
The Cincinnati Bengals offense transcended expectations. Joe Burrow was at his best throwing for 481 and three passing touchdowns. He did not stop there, however. Burrow added 20 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground. For the second straight week, his college running mate, J’aMarr Chase, scored two touchdowns. He gained 130 passing yards on eight receptions. Not to be outdone, teammate Tyler Boyd earned 155 yards on his eight receptions with a touchdown of his own. Tee Higgins collected 93 yards on five receptions as the Bengals cruised past the Falcons.
Josh Jacobs continued his streak of dominance on Sunday. If there was any concern that the bye week would slow his momentum, that can be put to rest. Jacobs scored three rushing touchdowns against Houston and he amassed 143 yards on his 20 carries. Jacobs now has 441 yards and six touchdowns rushing in his last three games. He has added 13 receptions for 82 yards over that span.
Josh Jacobs is the first player to score 30-plus PPR fantasy points in three consecutive games since Davante Adams in Weeks 7-9 of 2020, and the first running back to do it since Todd Gurley in Weeks 5-8 of 2018.

Austin Ekeler is another player who has been on a roll lately. He added two more touchdowns today. After not scoring a touchdown during the first three weeks of the season, Ekeler has scored every week since, including multiple touchdowns in three out of four games. He had a season-high 12 receptions on Sunday, earning 96 yards through the air. Ekeler and Nick Chubb share the NFL lead in total touchdowns with eight apiece.
Saquon Barkley surpassed 100 yards rushing for the third time this year. Gaining 100 yards on 24 carries, Barkley showed that he is still among the league’s best running backs. He has multiple receptions in every game this year. Against Jacksonville, he caught four more passes for 25 yards. Barkley is the second-leading scoring running back this season behind Ekeler.
Kenneth Walker’s star has risen. The rookie was impressive again in Week 7. He carried 23 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns, setting season highs in each category. Walker scored on a career-long 74-yard touchdown run, topping his 69-yarder from two weeks ago.
Dim Stars
Leonard Fournette served up a stinker in Carolina. Touching the ball only 10 times, Fournette tallied just 26 total yards and was held out of the end zone for the first time in four weeks.
Lamar Jackson struggled to get going against Cleveland. Throwing a season-low 16 times on Sunday, Jackson completed just nine passes for 120 yards. He was unable to add much with his legs, running for 57 yards on 10 carries. This was his worst passing output of the season and his third-worst rushing performance. Jackson went without scoring a touchdown for the first time in the 2022 season.
Rising Stars?
Daniel Jones had his biggest fantasy performance of the season. He had his fourth multi-touchdown game of the year, throwing a touchdown pass and scoring a rushing touchdown, as well. On 11 carries, he collected 107 rushing yards, exceeding 100 yards for the first time this year. Jones became the second-leading rusher among quarterbacks, overtaking the idle Jalen Hurts.
Mecole Hardman had a huge day for the Kansas City Chiefs. Facing San Francisco, Hardman turned in three touchdowns. He rushed for two and caught one. Hardman only touched the ball six times and totaled 60 yards, but he was able to take advantage of those touches.
D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard shared the load in the post-McCaffrey Panther backfield. Each player saw double-digit touches on the day. While they both had two receptions, Foreman had 15 carries to Hubbard’s nine. One 60-yard run made for more than half of Foreman’s 118 yards on the ground. While Hubbard rushed for just 63 yards, he scored the only touchdown between the two. Hubbard also exited with what is being described as a minor ankle injury. The workload share remains unclear as the Panthers prepare for a divisional matchup with Atlanta.
Injury Concerns
Amon-Ra St. Brown left the game in the first quarter after sustaining a concussion. He was hit after making his first and only catch of the day. Medical personnel ruled him out shortly after his departure.
What began as a great fantasy performance ended in disquiet for Breece Hall. Getting involved early, Hall took his third carry of the day 62 yards down the left sideline for a touchdown. He was able to gather up 72 yards on his four carries before leaving the game with what is believed to be a serious knee injury.
DK Metcalf was carted off the field, but not for a bathroom break this time. Metcalf was taken to the locker room for x-rays as the first quarter wound to a close. Although x-rays were reportedly negative, Metcalf will undergo further testing on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
DK Metcalf's X-Ray was negative, but Pete Carroll still says he needs MRI on knee. No real update.

Mike Williams was helped from the field on Sunday. He exited in the fourth quarter of the Chargers’ loss to Seattle. Reportedly, he is dealing with an ankle sprain and will have an MRI on Monday.
