Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Watch Week 5: Stock Up for McLaughlin
As a refresher, The Drop List consists of players who are rostered in at least 50% of Yahoo leagues and are no longer must-have assets, recommended additions are available in over 50% of Yahoo leagues, the Watch List contains in-depth notes on fringe waiver adds, and Deep Cuts includes player notes on those rostered in 5% or fewer of Yahoo and FFPC leagues.
The Drop List
-
QB: -
-
RB: Dalvin Cook, Tyler Allgeier, A.J. Dillon, Joshua Kelley, Jerick McKinnon
-
WR: Skyy Moore
-
TE: Kyle Pitts, David Njoku
Dalvin Cook handled a season-low 33.3% of New York’s backfield touches on Sunday night. He has yet to finish any higher than the RB33 in a single game with his new team.
Tyler Allgeier’s share of running back touches have progressively decreased (52.9% < 41% < 39.1% < 29.6%) in every game. He’s been added to the Contingency Top 10 (scroll down) given that he currently has no standalone value.
A.J. Dillon’s two starts for Aaron Jones (hamstring) resulted in 7.3 and 3.3 PPR points. There’s no reason to hold him outside of deep benches.
Joshua Kelley averaged 4.3 PPR points in three starts for Austin Ekeler (ankle), who is expected to return after the bye.
Jerick McKinnon has averaged 3.2 touches per game, getting out-touched by Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 3-of-4 contests—the only game favoring McKinnon being Week 2 when CEH exited early.
The WR75 in PPR points per game, Skyy Moore’s 10.2% target share remains lower than Rashee Rice’s 13.6% share.
Jonnu Smith is tied with Drake London for the team lead in targets (14) since Week 2, out-scoring Kyle Pitts 17.4 to 12.2 in that span. Smith has earned Atlanta’s only end zone target among their tight ends in that time, too. Whether Pitts is healthy or not is a moot point since he’s unstartable as the TE32 in points per game, getting doubled up in Yards Per Route Run (0.95) by Jonnu (1.99) to date.
I’m not trying to drop David Njoku anywhere. But it’s understandable to do so during Cleveland’s bye week if you don’t want to drop a more coveted stash at a different position. Njoku averaged a measly 11% target share from Deshaun Watson through Week 3, eclipsing 7.0 PPR points for the first time all season against the Ravens because Dorian Thompson-Robinson was under center.
