Browns officially named Dorian Thompson-Robinson as their starting QB for Sunday’s game against the Bengals.
Related Players: Jameis Winston
This is a good sign for the Bengals D/ST, as Thompson-Robinson has a career 5.2% turnover-worthy play rate, with one passing touchdown and seven interceptions, including two back in Week 7 against this Cincinnati team. DTR will take off with the ball, but it's not enough to give him the starting nod in any fantasy lineups.
Coach Doug Pederson announces that QB Trevor Lawrence had shoulder surgery yesterday and is now focused on his rehab. He'll make a full recovery with plenty of time for next season.
Related Players: Mac Jones
It remains to be seen what Lawrence will be returning to, in regards to coaching staff and roster makeup. Most of the offensive pieces are under contract through next season and the Jaguars are currently slated for a top-5 selection in the NFL Draft.
The Kirk Cousins era in Atlanta is over. There was one?
There was. For fourteen games. After five subpar performances, Cousins has been benched for rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
It’s no surprise, given the things Morris said after Monday night’s unexpectedly tight win over the Raiders, and then earlier today, the story pointed out. As the story also added, it's a pretty stunning move considering the team is coming off a win, and they gave Cousins a contract with $100 million guaranteed. Of course, Penix was the eighth overall pick in the NFL Draft this past spring. It's tough to tell what fantasy owners will get if they need to start Penix this week, as it will be a bit of a risky call given it's likely a fantasy playoff game. The weapons are certainly there for him to have some success, and, it's a home game against the Giants. Owners can probably view him in the QB2 range for those type of leagues.
