Jake's DK Top Plays for the Zurich Classic

Every week on Wednesday afternoons, I’ll be posting a few of my favorite DraftKings plays in this article with brief write-ups of each player. I will also include some of my “best bets” for the week as well. I’ll use this space up top to recap the previous week and share any thoughts or takeaways I have going forward. I’ll include my top plays from the week prior, their DK Price, where they finished on the leaderboard, and how many DK points they scored. This article will be FREE every week, but with access to a 4for4 betting sub, you will get access to our discord and all of our bets (PGA + other sports).

RBC Heritage Recap:

Last week was rather disappointing. Morikawa, one of the most expensive golfers on the slate, absolutely air-balled; Kawa had his worst tournament in the past year. Rai and Taylor had underwhelming weeks, but if you built with the play of the week (Daniel Berger), you could’ve found yourself cashing. I wrote Berger as the play of the week because not only did he fit the course well on paper, but he’s also inching closer and closer to the form he was in when he was once a Top 10 golfer in the world.

Using promo code: JAKE10 you will get your first month $10 (regularly $29.99).

Zurich Classic DraftKings Top Plays

Rory McIlroy / Shane Lowry, $12.4K

Danny Walker / Ryan Gerard, $7.5K

Sami Valimaki / Ben Silverman 6.9K

Steven Fisk / Tim Widing, $6.8K

Different format this week, as we head to New Orleans for a team style event (prior to 2017 ,this was a regular, stroke play PGA event). Scoring will be a lot different than in normal weeks. From Ron Klos’ weekly course preview article:

“The teams will play “best ball” format during the first and third rounds, while the second and fourth rounds will be “alternate shot” format. After Friday’s round, the top 33 teams (and ties) will make it through the cut line. The PGA Tour further describes the format in more detail:”

For Foursomes play, players will rotate tee shots. One player will hit the tee shots on all the odd-numbered holes, and the other will hit the tee shot on even-numbered holes. Example: Player A and Player B are partners. On the first hole, Player A tees off; Player B plays the second shot; Player A plays the third shot; and so on until the ball is holed. The total strokes taken will result in the team’s score for that hole.

For Four-Ball play, the players on each team will each play his own ball throughout the entirety of the round, with the best score on each hole recorded. Example: On the first hole, both golfers on each team tee off. Player A pars the hole and Player B birdies it. The team will be credited with a birdie.

In cash games, you’re going to want to start your lineups with Rory and Shane, two of the top three golfers in the field who are teaming up to defend their title. Birdies are necessary this week, so I like taking some chances on golfers that can get hot with their irons and putter.
