Packers HC Mike McCarthy confirmed newly acquired receiver Chris Harper will be utilized as such with the Packers. The 6-foot-1, 229-pound rookie was converting to an “H-back” before San Francisco released him last week.

Harper didn’t make it to the area until noon Saturday but wound up playing eight snaps on special teams against the Browns.

“We knew quite a bit about him, just based on our draft prep and then watching him play in the preseason and what he’s done so far this year,” special teams coach Shawn Slocum said. “I sat down with him a couple times and we met twice and decided to use him and it helped us on the active roster.”

Fantasy Impact:

Harper will likely battle Myles White for WR3 snaps this week - if James Jones doesn't play. With Jones back in the fold in what should be the next week or two, Harper would likely become a WR4 or 5 option with little fantasy value.
