The biggest beneficiary in the Ken Whisenhunt hire should be Jake Locker, the Titans’ talented but injury-prone quarterback. Whisenhunt has worked successfully with young quarterbacks (Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh), old quarterbacks (Kurt Warner in Arizona) and in-between quarterbacks (Philip Rivers in San Diego).

But it also ups the pressure on Locker. Entering his fourth pro season, he is at a crossroads. At some point this year, Whisenhunt will decide if Locker is indeed a franchise quarterback or if the Titans need to go a different direction.

Personally, I think it is a terrific pairing. Locker has worked in two different offensive systems — the first one run by Chris Palmer, the more recent by Dowell Loggains — over the past three seasons. Whisenhunt will provide new direction.
