Bears running back Garrett Wolfe, who suffered a lacerated kidney against Arizona, was released from a hospital on Wednesday after a three-night stay.
The hope was that he could return in about a month, but general manager Jerry Angelo said the injury could prove to be season-ending.
''We're just going to have to wait,'' Angelo said. ''It could be long-term. He's a great kid, and it's unfortunate. We still have a little bit of time.
''We really liked him. I was hoping he would start integrating more into the offense and Ron [Turner]was using him more in practices, and he's done a good job on special teams. I wanted to see him take another step as a runner.''
