CHI RB D'Andre Swift - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 @ Houston Texans
When D'Andre Swift was forced to fight for targets behind three solid options in Philadelphia, he ended up logging 0.21 target per route run, ranking 35th among the position. In Week 1, it looked like more of the same; he earned one target (that he didn't catch) on 20 routes run. Swift is a good-not-great player but earned a sizable contract, which means the team thinks quite highly of him. He has a decent floor as a fringe RB2/3, but returns aren't likely to be much higher than that.

CHI RB D'Andre Swift - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Tennessee Titans
In a bid to create the best infrastructure they could around their new franchise QB, the Bears filled as many of their holes as they could, including signing D'Andre Swift to the third-highest AAV contract given to a running back this offseason. This bodes well for Swift, seeing plenty of the field, and his role in the receiving game should be locked in, though he will have to fight three legitimate receiving options for targets. When this happened in Philadelphia (Brown, Smith, Goedert) he ended up logging 0.21 target per route run, ranking 35th among the position. Swift is a good-not-great player but earned a sizable contract, which means the team thinks quite highly of him. He has a great floor as a fringe RB2/3 but returns aren't likely to be much higher than that.

CHI RB D'Andre Swift - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
After his first career 1,000-yard rushing performance in one lone year with the Eagles, D'Andre Swift finds himself back in the NFC North. While maintaining his involvement in the passing game (39-214-1 on 47 targets), his 58.5% backfield snap rate was a nice boon to his bottom line after handling only 99 rushing attempts with the Lions in 2022. Being removed from a passing attack headed by Jalen Hurts should help him accumulate some more check-down receptions after running on air in most of those situations last season. His 0.77 yards per route run had a lot to do with his quarterback simply taking off with the ball. A majority role as the third-down back for Caleb Williams creates a sizable fantasy floor.

Fantasy Downside
Swift earned a bigger piece of the pie in Philadelphia by beating out Kenneth Gainwell, but things may not be quite as easy with the Bears. Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson combined for 961 yards on 4.5 YPC while adding 343 yards on 6.3 yards per reception last season, and they're both still in town to fight for touches. Herbert should push for a one-two punch with Swift, but if Johnson eats into the touches as well, it could be an annoying year for Swift's fantasy managers.

2024 Bottom Line
He has a great floor as a low-end RB2 but returns aren't likely to be much higher than that.

PHI RB D'Andre Swift - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Arizona Cardinals
D'Andre Swift had 20 carries for the first time since Week 2 and produced 92 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles want to run more and they did just that. Swift didn't have a pass target which hasn't been a big part of his game the second half of the season.

Swift faces the Cardinals who are ranked 30th in aFPA to running backs. Arizona has struggled against the run so this is a big opportunity for the Eagles to ground and pound.

Start Swift as a low-end RB1 for Week 17. Philly will make sure he has a minimum of 17 carries and he will be a fantasy factor.

PHI RB D'Andre Swift - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Seattle Seahawks
The touches for D'Andre Swift have been down the past two weeks and last game he ended up with only 11 rushes for 39 yards and zero receptions. In fact, he has not been involved in the passing game this month like he was earlier in the season. The Eagles said they will get back to running the football, but that didn't happen last week.

Swift faces the Seahawks who are ranked 29th in aFPA to running backs. Despite a favorable matchup, his fantasy stock has dropped in recent weeks and until we see more touches, Swift's ranking is lower than previous weeks.

Start Swift but as a low-end RB2 for Week 15. The Eagles need to get him back involved in the passing game and at least 15 carries which we will see if that happens this Monday.

PHI RB D'Andre Swift - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Dallas Cowboys
D'Andre Swift had his worst game since Week 1 with only 13 rushing yards and seven receiving yards. He wasn't a factor, nor was the Eagles running game in general, which has struggled at times this year besides having a very good offensive line.

Swift faces the Cowboys who are ranked 12th in aFPA to running backs. In the first meeting earlier this year against Dallas, Swift had 20 touches for 74 total yards. The Eagles would like to get that amount of touches again to him, but most likely it will be lower.

Start Swift for Week 14 but only as a high-end RB3 or Flex. We expect Dallas to keep him in check like they did earlier in the season.
