Fantasy Upside
Josh Jacobs continued to prove that he could be a bellcow back last season, handling 285 opportunities (rushes + targets) just a year removed from toting the ball a massive 340 times. The Raiders offense, in general, was quite poor, but he now finds a far better home in Green Bay, where the Packers finished with the 12th-ranked scoring offense despite a slot start. Aaron Jones (now in Minnesota) was the RB27 in half-PPR scoring while dealing with a number of injuries but ended the year on a four-week stretch run in which he scored 14.62 PPG. That seems more in line with what Jacobs' ceiling outcome could look like.
Fantasy Downside
Jacobs has a lot of wear on those tires, accumulating 1,305 rush attempts since entering the league in 2019, the second-most in that span behind only Derrick Henry (1,529 attempts). The lack of tread may have started rearing its head last season, when he had the fewest amount of breakaway runs (five), lowest YPC (3.5), and lowest yards created after contact (2.35) of his career. A.J. Dillon is still on the roster and the team spent the 89th overall selection on RB MarShawn Lloyd in the NFL Draft.
2024 Bottom Line
In a brand new offense that should produce far better than the Raiders of last year, Josh Jacobs offers an RB2 profile with RB1 upside in fantasy. He didn't look nearly as explosive last season, but he also held out of training camp and found himself on a team disintegrating from within.
