Miles Austin

To the unbiased observers, and especially the fans, it doesn't make sense.

Why is Eagles wide receiver Miles Austin getting more snaps per game than every other wide receiver, except Jordan Matthews?

Two people with knowledge of the situation, one who works for another team and one close to the Eagles, agreed on what is happening with Austin.

"You see it all the time, it's the classic case of guy gaining trust in the coaches,'' the man with another team said. "We have it here with a defensive player. Even though his backup is the better player, he plays because the coaches trust him to know the defense. It's got to be same thing going on (with Austin). The coaches know he's going to run the right routes and be in the right place all the time. Even though the other guys might be better, he's getting the time.''

After playing a limited amount of snaps the first month, Austin played 46 snaps against the Saints, more than Josh Huff (41) and Nelson Agholor (34); played 50 against the Giants, second most to Matthews' 62 (Agholor was out that game); 60 against the Panthers; a team-high 64 against the Cowboys; and 45 against the Dolphins when Agholor returned to the lineup. The thing is, Austin hasn't been great either. Agholor is getting healthier but has missed a lot of time and may be way behind in terms of reps and chemistry, however he should start to take some snaps away from Austin as the season goes along. Right now, only Matthews is a safe fantasy option.
