Sunday Night DFS Single-Game Breakdown: Steelers at Chargers
Two teams that came into the 2019 season with high hopes face off on Sunday Night in what is an almost must-win situation. The 1-4 Ben Roethlisberger-less Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Los Angeles to face the 2-3 Chargers. Can a third-string QB pull off the huge upset as substantial road dogs or is this game going to be all about the Chargers?
Let's break down the game and how we can find the edge that might get us at the top of the leaderboards.
Injuries
- Mason Rudolph, PIT, QB - OUT
- James Washington, PIT, WR - OUT
- Jaylen Samuels, PIT, RB - OUT
- Hunter Henry, LAC, TE - Questionable
Samuel being out is the big news here as it should mean James Conner gets a full workload (although you could argue it means more usage for Benny Snell but it will be more Conner's game than anything). Henry appears unlikely to play and we'll approach the analysis here with that in mind, but if things change it is an obvious impact to the Chargers targets and I'll update with some brief thoughts on how to handle that.
Author's Update - It appears Henry will play so remove the backup Chargers TEs from consideration and definitely consider Henry as a viable option in your lineups. I think it's a slight upgrade for the Chargers offense in general so I like that side a little bit more now.
Evaluation of Vegas Spread and Total
Chargers -7 Over/Under 41.5
Vegas sees this as a low-scoring game with the Chargers winning handily. With a third-string QB at the helm, I'm of the mindset that this is the most likely outcome and will approach this game with that as my main focus for probable outcomes and how it will affect game flow.
