12 Undervalued Defenders in IDP Fantasy Football Leagues

The regular season is in our purview and we’re in the middle of the preseason, which means, drafts are starting, or maybe you’re in the middle of 10 slow drafts right now. No judgment here.

As we head into draft season, I’m noticing defenders who are being overvalued and undervalued at their draft position. Although I don’t like the term sleeper, these are guys who should produce value at their current ADP relative to where I have them ranked and projected.

Here are some undervalued defenders to target in your IDP fantasy football drafts.

Linebacker

Cody Barton, LB, Seattle Seahawks

It's no secret that Cody Barton is one of my favorite breakout candidates this year. Barton’s getting some preseason work in and looks like he’s set to take on a full-time role opposite Jordyn Brooks. Brooks looks like he’ll wear the dot and is being drafted among the top six linebackers off the board. You’re drafting Brooks at his peak, but I’ll take the value on Barton as the LB40. You’re getting a full-time LB, which is becoming a rarity, in the late rounds of your draft. He has 120 tackle upside if he can produce a 12% tackle efficiency.

Demario Davis, LB, New Orleans Saints

The definition of “old man value” in redraft formats. Until the wheels fall off, you can expect Davis to appear in at least 95% of the snaps, as he wears the dot as the play-caller of the defense. Davis’s durability is under-rated, as he’s missed just one game in his career. He’s smart on the field and a fundamental tackler. He has five straight 100-tackle seasons and I don’t see any reason why he won’t notch a sixth. I’ve got Davis ranked as my LB25 and he’s being drafted as the LB53 according to IDP Guys ADP data.. Criminally undervalued.
