Week 2 IDP Waiver Wire: Pickups & Targets (Fantasy Football 2022)
Week 1 laid claim to the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, T.J. Watt and Seahawks safety, Jamal Adams. Watt appears to have suffered a pectoral injury that could cause him to miss the season. He's getting a few opinions and if surgery is required, he's out. Adams is looking at a more severe injury and the worst is being expected. Their production will be tough to replace, but this is why the waiver wire never sleeps.
As we head into Week 2, here are the defenders you should consider adding to your roster.
Defensive Line/Edge Rusher
Dominique Robinson, DL, Chicago Bears
Dominique Robinson built upon his decent preseason into a solid regular-season debut. I really hope Robinson sees an uptick in snaps going forward. Robinson saw 41% of the snaps in Week 1, including 15 pass rush snaps. The metric to track will be his pressure to sack rate going forward. He generated a 20% pressure rate - resulting in three pressures. He converted two of his three pressures into sacks - definitely an unsustainable rate, but he did well against a solid San Francisco offensive line. Robinson beat his blockers for a 37% win rate. This tells me he’s getting around his blockers and will be able to generate consistent pressure.
I want to see more and I think the Bears’ defensive staff will too. I think he’s shaping up to a DL3 if his snap rate trends up. I want to be ahead of the demand on Robinson.
