The tweet went on to say the two had a discussion about the veteran’s role on Tuesday, but said the contents of the conversation will kept private. Gordon will be tough to trust unless you don't really have many other options in Week 7 full of byes. Murray actually looked good running the ball last week, so it's hard to believe he won't have a role.

Hackett totally avoided answering a question about why Gordon got limited time in the first half and no snaps in the second half, the tweet said. Fantasy owners would like to know as well. Hackett went on to say they didn’t have many plays in the second half and he thought Murray ran well. Obviously, Gordon can't be trusted heading into Week 7. It will be interesting to see how the Broncos address their running game. But with an injured Russell Wilson at QB and a lackluster offense, they have bigger problems.

Two-time Pro Bowler Melvin Gordon logged only eight snaps -- none past the second quarter -- in Denver's 19-16 overtime loss and had only three official carries for eight yards after an apparent demotion to third choice in the Broncos' backfield.

The Broncos decided to ride Murray and Boone after benching Gordon, likely leaving fantasy owners in just as much shock as Gordon himself. Obviously this will be something to follow in the coming days. Gordon won't be able to be trusted even if he's active for Week 7. Meanwhile, Murray looked pretty good running on early down while Boone took over on passing downs.

Otten went on to say, "We’ll have a mix of Mike Boone and after that we’ve got to figure out who can spell and who feels best in that position. But we trust Melvin going forward here.” Gordon is dealing with a neck injury and has been limited, so it's a least a little unclear how much the other backs will see the field. Boone had three carries and a catch and is probably worth a pickup but his workload is a question until we see more. Murray was just signed and is coming off a 57-yard, one-TD performance with the Saints in Week 4 and could also get carries at some point.

With Javonte Williams out for the season, Murray now joins Melvin Gordon and Mike Boone in the Denver backfield.

Murray was just in action in London rushing for a TD and 57 yards. Gordon and Boone should carry most of the load at the running back spot but Murray is an injury away from having significant time, and it's worth noting since Gordon was also banged up a little in Week 4.

A devastating end to what was shaping up to be a positive sophomore season for Williams. The Broncos were all but willing to bench Gordon, possibly for the entirety of the game, after his fourth lost fumble of the season turned into a 68-yard return for a defensive touchdown in the second quarter. It was Gordon's first touch of the game, and he was not the team's first choice to replace Williams directly after the injury, as Mike Boone out-snapped Gordon 19-to-10 and out-touched him 4-to-3. Outside of fullback Andrew Beck, Denver doesn't have another option behind Gordon/Boone, so a free agent veteran signing could be in the works.
