Darrelle Revis did not report to the team facility this morning, possibly the start of what could be a lengthy holdout for the Jets All-Pro cornerback.
Physicals for Jets players ended at 9 a.m., with a conditioning run at 10 a.m., and Revis was absent for both. The team said Revis would not be considered a holdout until 5:30 p.m.
Players and the rookie bus will leave for Cortland, N.Y., later today and practices begin tomorrow. Revis could join his teammates later, but this is an early indication that he may be holding out over his contract impasse.
Revis' agent, Neil Schwartz, could not be reached for comment.
The team re-opened "communication" Friday with Revis, who is scheduled to make $1 million this season. The sides have been at an impasse since the team started negotiations with Revis' camp in the spring.
Revis has said the Jets promised him a new contract by training camp.
