The Philadelphia Eagles got a big win over the Jets on Sunday as they head into their late-season bye, and head coach Nick Sirianni spoke to reporters after the game about Jalen Hurts, his injury, and why he’s still the starter when he’s ready to return. He also noted that Gardner Minshew had a good game, their run game is successful because of the offensive line, and Jake Elliott’s consistency makes them comfortable kicking the ball.

Sirianni went on to say Hurts has shown to be one of the best in the league moving around and making plays and when he's healthy, he'll be the starter. Minshew looked good against the struggling Jets and while Hurts has looked good at times, he's also struggled, especially last week against the Giants. The Eagles have a bye in Week 14.

The Eagles signed kicker Jake Elliott to a five-year extension worth $21 million.

The new deal keeps Elliott with the Eagles through the 2024 season. He has been one of the top kickers in the league this season, making all 14 field goal attempts this season, with one from 50-plus yards and three others from at least 40 yards. He has also missed just two extra points. Elliott is our No. 3 ranked kicker this week as the Eagles head to Miami to take on the Dolphins.

The Eagles clinch the No. 1 seed if the Vikings lose to the Packers on Saturday tonight. If the Vikings win, the Eagles will still be playing for something on Monday night when they host the Raiders.

Either way, the Eagles won’t change their plans for Christmas night.

That’s the word straight from Eagles coach Doug Pederson, who was asked by reporters if there’s a dual plan for whether the Vikings lose or the Vikings win. And it was literally the word. As in one word.

“No,” Pederson said.

"I think it's important that they continue to play," Pederson said. "If we're in that position, if we're fortunate to be in that position to rest, I'll make that decision at that time. I think it's important that we continue to play."

The Eagles survived without a kicker throughout most of Sunday’s 37-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys, and they now begin a week when Jake Elliott’s health will be an ongoing question while he recovers from a concussion.

Elliott remains the team’s top option at kicker. They have a potential Plan B in former starter Caleb Sturgis, but they’re still maintaining hope that Elliott is healthy enough to play this Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Coach Doug Pederson didn’t answer whether there’s another option they’d consider.

Elliott is in the protocol so the team's hands are tied for now. Sturgis is eligible to be activated to the 53-man roster as one of the team's two designated to return provisions. Sturgis is getting himself back to where he was before his injury, according to the story. However, if the team activates Sturgis, they would need to burn an extra roster spot or move on from Elliott.

The Eagles have signed rookie kicker Jake Elliott off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad, and placed Caleb Sturgis on injured reserve with a hip injury, according to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Elliott is a former Bengal 5th round pick.
