Titans RB has been designated to return from IR according to Aaron Wilson of Sports Talk 790 in Texas. Evans has 21 days to be placed on the active roster.

Evans was the favorite to back up Derrick Henry prior to landing on IR. Look for him to take over for McNichols sooner than later.

Evans was one of three Titans to be placed on IR, resulting in a three week absence. He suffered a knee injury in the final preseason contest.

Heading into the season in line for a bigger workload, the Titans will now look to Jeremy McNichols and Mekhi Sargent to backup Derrick Henry for the start of the season. Outside of deep fantasy leagues it's hard to see value in rostering either McNichols or Sargent.

Titans have waived running back Javian Hawkins, per source.

Hawkins looked to be the team's fourth running back but was likely battling Hill for the RB3 role. It could be a bit of good news for Evans, who was talked about as a back who could see a much bigger role this season. But Evans got hurt in a preseason game and has missed time. If anything, this could at least mean Evans is on the mend and poised to see an RB2 role on the Titans. He's expected to be involved in the passing game.

Darrynton Evans missed 10 games his rookie season with a strained hamstring and while the reports have said knee the video shows "either a hamstring or (less likely) proximal calf” [credit @DrJesseMorse]. Tennessee holds Brian Hill, Jeremy McNichols and Mekhi Sargent behind Henry and Evans, this will be a backfield situation to monitor going forward.

Titans rookie RB Darrynton Evans is not practicing Friday, according to Jim Wyatt of TitansOnline.com.

Head coach Mike Vrabel said Evans is out for Sunday's game against Jacksonville.

Evans was drafted to back up Derrick Henry and has yet to take a snap in the NFL. Evans is insurance for Henry in fantasy, but nothing more.
