Steelers WR Diontae Johnson practiced in full Friday and is set to play Sunday, according to Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL.

Johnson popped up on the injury report this week but managed to practice enough to play. Johnson looks to improve off of a disappointing fantasy week despite leading the Steelers in targets.

Steelers WR Diontae Johnson was a full participant at practice Friday, according to Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com. Johnson had missed practice with a foot injury.

Another wide receiver is a full participant after an injury scare. This is excellent news for Johnson and his potential breakout campaign.

According to Brooke Pryor on Twitter, Diontae Johnson missed Thursday’s practice with a foot injury.

The injury news keeps on coming. Diontae is the latest wide receiver to pop up with an injury on Thursday. Missing practice is a concern, but his participation tomorrow, or lack thereof will be more telling. If he cannot get in at least a limited practice he may be held out of Pittsburgh’s Week 1 contest against the New York Giants. If Johnson cannot go it may be rookie receiver Chase Claypool who ascends to the starting role in three-wide sets.

According to Brooke Pryor on Twitter, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson has been developing noticeable on field chemistry with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

As expected, Ben Roethlisberger has quickly gained an affinity for his sophomore wideout. Johnson is a nuanced route runner, and can read defenses well enough to be on the same page as Big Ben on most plays. JuJu Smith-Schuster remains the top option, but Johnson could develop into a 1b while James Washington and Chase Claypool duke it out for number three duties. Johnson could take a major step forward with Big Ben under center. The recipient of copious amounts of offseason hype, Johnson is our 35th ranked receiver for the 2020 season.

JuJu Smith-Schuster looked the best among the group. He was targeted plenty by Ben Roethlisberger during Monday’s one-hour, 47-minute practice, which was heavy on situational periods, including two-minute, red-zone and goal-line drills. It wasn’t perfect, that’s for sure, but it did give a glimpse into a potential return to the form Smith-Schuster showed in his first two years with Roethlisberger.

The Steelers were missing some key pieces on defense, the story said in fairness. But, it shouldn't go without noting it was another nice day for both Claypool and Johnson and the author thinks it's going to be a dangerous group to deal with this season.
