The 49ers on Monday acted quickly, announcing the club has released tight end Bruce Miller following his arrest for assault in San Francisco.

Miller’s alleged assault sent a 70-year-old man and his son to a San Francisco hospital. Miller was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, elder abuse, threats, and battery. He was booked into San Francisco County Jail at 11:25 a.m. Bond was set at $178,000.

According to the sheriff's department, he also faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm.

49ers tight end Bruce Miller was arrested for assault Monday morning at Fisherman's Wharf, according to a television report.

KTVU reported that Miller tried to check in to the Marriott Hotel on Sunday night but was told it was full. He later allegedly attacked a 70-year-old hotel guest and his son, with both needing hospitalization.

According to the report, Miller fled but was later arrested.

The 49ers issued the following statement: "The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the media report regarding Bruce Miller. We are gathering the relevant facts of this matter and will continue to monitor the situation.

49ers RB Frank Gore (concussion, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 16. Gore is apparently on track to start against San Diego on Saturday, though he has yet to receive full clearance. Without Carlos Hyde vulturing carries, he could be in for a big workload. If he’s out, Alfonso Smith and Bruce Miller figure to form an ugly RBBC.

Running back Frank Gore did not participate in practice on Tuesday, as he arrived at the team facility after a visit to a doctor as part of the NFL’s protocol on concussions.

Gore must pass the designated steps in order to be available for the 49ers’ game Saturday night against the San Diego Chargers.

Gore did not play in the second half of the 49ers’ 17-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday after sustaining a concussion in the second quarter while blocking linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Fantasy Impact:

The story also said backup running back Carlos Hyde was also not seen on the field at the beginning of practice after sustaining right ankle and back injuries on a third-quarter play during Week 15. Right now, Alfonso Smith and Bruce Miller are the only other RBs on the 49ers roster. The 49ers play the Chargers on Saturday night so both backs lose a day as they try to get back on the field.

Fantasy Impact:

Gore never returned to the game and will now go through protocol. Carlos Hyde took over but was bent back awkwardly on a run and was seen limping on the sidelines. With tough games against San Diego and Arizona left on the schedule, a possible combo of Bruce Miller, Trey Millard and Alfonso Smith doesn't present an attractive fantasy option should Gore and Hyde not be able to play Week 16.

The 49ers gave rookie tailback Carlos Hyde the start in Thursday’s exhibition at Baltimore, and on the game’s first series, he proved up to the task.

Hyde racked up 34 yards on three carries on his first professional drive, helping to set up a field goal as San Francisco took an early 3-0 lead.

Hyde’s gains were seven, 19 and eight yards, respectively. On the 19-yarder, a block from fullback Bruce Miller helped him get the corner off left end.

Fantasy Impact:

Hyde will likely serve as the primary backup to Frank Gore with Kendall Hunter out for the year. He's a good handcuff for Gore owners and for other owners who are looking for a winning ticket in the middle rounds.
