Ricky Pearsall (shoulder) hopefully ready for Week 1, says Kyle Shanahan
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday he hopes rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (shoulder) will be ready to play when the team opens the regular season Monday, September 9 against the New York Jets.
Pearsall has only practiced for about a week and did not play in any of the 49ers’ three preseason games. He started training camp on the non-football injury list, returned to practice for a week before re-aggravating the injury.
"We'll see how he is this week,” Shanahan said of Pearsall. “Hoping he gets into practice this week, and if he does, that's a pretty good sign that he could be available for then." With Pearsall hurt and Brandon Aiyuk still on his “hold in”, Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings are running as the top outside options for Brock Purdy. There are 16 days until the 49ers’ opener.
