The San Diego Chargers website lists Jackie Battle as the team's RB1, followed by Ryan Mathews and Ronnie Brown.
Beat writer Michael Gehlken had this to say via Twitter: Team spokesman on why Battle listed No. 1 RB ahead of Mathews on online depth chart: "He just started last week, so that's why he's there." Wouldn't read into it. Chargers confident in Mathews. Likely only matter of time before he's the guy ahead of Battle, who'll stay involved.
Our concern is not that Battle is going to out-touch Mathews over the rest of the season, it's that Battle appears to be moving into more of a Mike Tolbert role, where he gets most of the goal line touches. This would put a serious dent in Mathews' value. He'd be more of a fantasy RB2 than a RB1.
