For a second straight day, Lions’ WR Amon-Ra St. Brown did not practice due to an ankle injury.

Although St. Brown's absence would theoretically open up opportunities for other pass catchers, he has solidified himself as a true WR1 and it would be a detriment to the offense as a whole if he were to miss Week 4. If Amon-Ra is on the field, he is a top-10 fantasy option.

St. Brown and Swift are "day to day" the tweet went on say. But reports have said Swift is likely going to miss time, possibly two weeks leading up to the team's Week 6 bye. Williams would be a solid fantasy option at running back with Swift possibly out. St. Brown doesn't appear to have a serious injury but isn't a lock for Week 4 yet, but seems to have a better chance to go than Swift. The budding star injured his right ankle in the 28-24 loss on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. St. Brown underwent testing on the ankle this week, and received “encouraging” news according to NFL Network.

The story sent on to say the report said: “They’ll be cautious, but if St. Brown misses time, it shouldn’t be anything long term.” To say St. Brown has been stud could be an understatement. As the story added, St. Brown injured the ankle in the first half of the game and hobbled to the sidelined, where he was evaluated by trainers for a few minutes before getting another tape job and then returning to the game. He played 57 of a possible 78 offensive snaps, and finished with a team-high six catches for 73 yards. That snapped an NFL-record streak of eight straight games with eight catches, plus a club-record streak of six straight games with a touchdown catch.

Lions general manager Brad Holmes said in an interview this week that Jameson Williams is "a long-term investment" and that the team is "going to continue to be smart with him."

The biggest benefactor —if you want to call it that— of Williams' continued road to health is likely new addition DJ Chark. He has grown comfortable with Jared Goff and could operate as the team's field stretcher while Amon-Ra St. Brown and T.J. Hockenson prowl the middle of the defense.

The speedy free agent acquisition, D.J. Chark, has emerged as a dynamic force on the outside of the Lions offense. Chark is consistently getting open down the field and has developed a quick chemistry with QB Jared Goff.

Chark’s ability to make catches away from his body and adjust to the ball in the air have proven special throughout camp, the story said. The Lions desperately needed upgrades at wide receiver and Chark has proven to be a shrewd investment so far. Even when first-round rookie Williams gets onto the field later this year, Chark has proven he deserves a big role in the more aggressive Lions offense, the story went on to say.

Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus needed assistance to leave the field on Tuesday after suffering an injury to his leg, but it should not be long before he’s able to rejoin the team at practice.

Head coach Dan Campbell told reporters on Wednesday that Cephus avoided a major injury and is expected to miss a “short period of time” this summer.

It's a potential tough break for Cephus who now faces what looks to be a crowded group of WRs in Detroit.

Reynolds was running as the team's WR, and of course had a previous connection with QB Jared Goff dating back to the Rams. Raymond could move up to the WR2 with Reynolds out. St. Brown looks to have established itself as the team's WR1.

With Williams still out, St. Brown has a chance to emerge as the top WR for the Lions. He went for 7-65-0 last week. Hodge had one catch in Week 5 and Raymond had two TDs in Week 4 before vanishing in Week 5, collecting just two targets. TE T.J. Hockenson will likely remain QB Jared Goff's top target and RBs D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams could be more active as well in the passing game.

The Lions have been looking for WRs to step up this season and form chemistry with Jared Goff. It'll be an extended absence and potentially season-ending for Cephus, who has been a bright spot in Detroit's challenging start, the story said. The team is waiting for Williams to return while guys like St. Brown, Raymond, and Hodge, who caught a TD pass this past weekend, look to take over the top-three spots. Benson and Kennedy are also among the names on the depth chart.

Lions HC Dan Campbell told reporters Wednesday that WR Tyrell Williams (concussion) is not expected to play Week 3 against the Ravens.
