Team news: New Orleans Saints

Saints coach Darren Rizzi said team is expected to open the practice window for both RB Kendre Miller and WR Bub Means this week as they're eligible to return from IR.

Another beat reporter, Ross Jackson, went on add in a post on X that Miller will get a clean slate and it's "all gas, no brakes" when Miller gets back. With the Saints not going anywhere, the return of Miller could eat into Kamara's workload. Taysom Hill is out for the season, so Kamara may get an extra crack at the end zone now and then, but it's probably worth it for the Saints to get more looks at Miller to close out the season. It's just something for Kamara owners to keep in mind once Miller is back on the field.

Tests today confirmed that Saints TE Taysom Hill is out for the year with the knee injury he suffered Sunday, per source.

This was the fear after the injury happened during Sunday's game. Hill had six rushing touchdowns this season as that's the area where he did the most damage this year. The injury should open up more chances for Alvin Kamara, but the Saints lose another offensive weapon for the rest of the season. Hill is under contract with the Saints for one more season.

Saints TE Taysom Hill will undergo an MRI Monday on his knee to determine the severity of the injury.

While nothing is official yet, there is worry that the knee injury is a season-ending one. The injury happened in the fourth quarter when Hill ran for a first down as the Saints were looking to make a comeback. His knee hit one of the Rams’ helmets. Very unfortunate for the Saints’ Swiss Army knife.

Saints TE Taysom Hill was carted off the field with a knee injury, later declared doubtful to return.

The injury occurred in the fourth quarter on a fourth down attempt in which Hill took the snap himself and ran for a first down. Hill had 47 totals yards before the injury, which hopefully isn’t too serious.

Darren Rizzi said that Chris Olave is in a good place.

The post went on to say Olave was at the Saints practice on Tuesday and that Olave has seen several specialists and has another appointment coming up soon. On IR, the earliest Olave could be back is Week 15, but there seems to be a ways to go before we get to that point. Other reports say Olave may not return this season.

The move will keep Olave out for at least four games. However, Rapoport notes that due to the nature of his injury, the Saints being 2-7 and Olave seeing specialists, there is a chance Olave will miss the remainder of the season. This is the second concussion of the season for Olave. The Saints are taking a very cautious approach with one of their top offensive players given his health and the season being lost — the Saints have lost seven straight and fired head coach Dennis Allen this week.

No surprise, but Chris Olave is ruled out this week. Still no decision of whether he’ll land in IR, but it’s on the table.

This WR room is in a bad way right now, filled with names we haven't heard from in years, or possibly, had never heard of. Outside of Alvin Kamara, and likely Taysom Hill, there are not many other options here for fantasy purposes.

Saints WR Chris Olave was carted off the field Sunday against the Panthers and was later ruled out with a concussion.

Olave took a hard hit from Panthers safety Xavier Woods and it wasn't long before he was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Woods was flagged for unnecessary roughness as a result of the play. Olave was taken to a local hospital but the good news is he has movement in all of his extremities.

Derek Carr was on a "little bit" of a pitch count for Wednesday's practice, but is still expected to start Sunday, Dennis Allen said.

Good news for the Saints as they try to claw their way back into playoff talks. This would be great for Chris Olave, who has a very cushy matchup against the Panthers secondary this week.

Dennis Allen noted that Bub Means will miss time due to a high-ankle sprain.

With Olave back in action last week, Means was still the team's WR2, but with him now missing time, Tipton and Wilson look to be next up on the depth chart. The good news for the Saints is QB Derek Carr has a chance to play in Week 9. Olave went for a line of 8-107-0 and was targeted 14 times. Kamara was targeted 11 times and had a 6-55-0 line. Expect Kamara to continue to be heavily used in the passing game.
