When I tell y’all Zay Jones is the Jaguars designated X Receiver, I ain’t kidding.

The Jaguars have placed WR Jamal Agnew on Injured Reserve for a season-ending hip injury.

It's a big blow to the offense and especially the special teams where Agnew originally made his mark this season. But as of late, Agnew was getting more reps as a WR2. The Jags offense, especially the passing game, is one to mostly stay away from in terms of fantasy production.

Laquon Treadwell has been among the Jaguars' most-consistent wide receivers thus far in camp. Every day walking off the practice field there has been talk of a Treadwell catch or touchdown that got fans and his teammates cheering.

Treadwell, a first-round selection by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2016 NFL Draft, had a standout collegiate career at the University of Mississippi – but was not as productive as he wanted in four seasons in Minnesota and last season with the Atlanta Falcons. At best, he could end up as the team's WR4 heading into the season, which means he'd be a possible injury away from significant time. It will need more time to sort itself out, but Treadwell is perhaps a name to keep in mind.

The Falcons have placed second-year wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus on injured reserve after he left Sunday’s game against the Raiders with a toe injury, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

Zaccheaus joined Atlanta as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia in 2019. He’s caught 20 passes for 274 yards with one touchdown in 2020.

As a corresponding move, the Falcons have activated Treadwell off the COVID list and signed him to their 53-man roster, the story said. Treadwell previously was on Atlanta’s practice squad after signing with the club as a free agent during the offseason.

As the Vikings sort through candidates for their No. 3 receiver job, they can pick from a range of different skill sets: Rookie Dillon Mitchell and second-year man Jeff Badet bring more long speed to the group, while 2019 draft pick Bisi Johnson excelled with his quickness in college. Brandon Zylstra and Chad Beebe — when they’re healthy — provide a physical option and a smooth route-runner.

Before any of them makes a strong play for a bigger role in the Vikings offense, however, they’ll have to get a better handle on the basics.

The story summed it up well: It remains to be seen how much the Vikings will lean on a third receiver. They could make greater use of two-tight end sets this fall, with second-round pick Smith joining Rudolph, and spend less time with three receivers on the field. The Vikings will still need options beyond Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, though, and competition among their young players, as well as such veterans as Taylor and Treadwell, figures to continue through camp.
