Steelers QB Kenny Pickett is in the concussion protocol and is out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Ravens.

Mitch Trubisky is back under center for the Steelers. Pickett was trying to escape a sack, then took a hard hit and eventually did take a sack. Now it's Trubisky against the Ravens after Pickett threw just one pass today.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth, QB Kenny Pickett, and CB Levi Wallace have been cleared and are no longer in concussion protocol.

It's uncertain at this time if Pickett will regain the starting role from Mitch Trubisky but Freiermuth will assuredly send Zach Gentry deep down the depth chart. During the starting TE's absence, Gentry managed to accrue four yards on one reception. Freiermuth is right back to a top-ten option against a Dolphins defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to the tight end position.

As Steelers coach Mike Tomlin promised, QB Kenny Pickett (concussion) was a full participant today.

The Steelers said if PIckett clears protocol he'll be the starter against Miami in Week 7. This certainly indicates he's on his way to getting the nob. Trubisky would be back under center if there are any setbacks. Keep in mind, this is a Sunday night game.

Mike Tomlin said Kenny Pickett is in concussion protocol, but he should be able to practice tomorrow and "if he's cleared to play, he'll play quarterback" Sunday night in Miami.

Pickett is expected to practice in full on Wednesday, according to reports. If he can't go in Week 7, Trubisky would get the start.

Pickett will have to face one of the tougher defenses in the Bills in Week 5, but should get plenty of chances to put up fantasy points beginning this week. Pickett stole two rushing touchdowns in the second half of last week's game but also threw three interceptions in that amount of time. There's definitely an increased upside to the Steeler offense going forward, but Pickett owners will likely take some lumps along the way as well.

The Steelers offense once again once inept under Trubisky, going just 7/13 for 84 yards and an interception. It became just a matter of time until the Steelers turned to the rookie. Now is his opportunity.

For the second game in a row, the Steelers found success when they went to their tempo offense. On four of seven plays in the Steelers’ first scoring drive against the Browns, the team used no huddle and moved the ball 75 yards in three minutes. On the second scoring drive, the Steelers went no-huddle on just three of 10 plays, but two of those plays picked up first downs.

“We did pretty good with the tempo,” Chase Claypool said. “We might be able to go back to that if, uh, our offense is stalling a little bit, maybe we add some tempo to switch up the momentum or the flow of the game.”

The story was about signs of progress for the Steelers offense. The team did find some success using an up-tempo offense. Last year, the story pointed out, the team had similar issues and mainly went no-huddle only in the second half with Ben Roethlisberger as the QB, but pointed out the team did go up-tempo in the first half of last week's game with Cleveland. That's perhaps a good sign. The story also mentioned Warren has developed into a nice compliment to Harris, and if you're a Harris owner, Warren should probably be on your roster.

Kenny Pickett now ahead of Mason Rudolph. This was the plan for the Steelers coming in. Nothing changed from yesterday. Sounds like wires got crossed is all.

Pickett was apparently listed as the team's QB3 Monday, but it looks like it was just a mixup. With Pickett now the QB2, it makes sense he'll see some starts at some point this season. Trubisky is the starter for now but traditionally QBs taken in the first round eventually get to play as rookies.

The former first-round pick was named as one of Pittsburgh’s five co-captains for the 2022 season Monday, along with second-year running back Najee Harris, linebacker T.J. Watt, defensive tackle Cam Heyward and safety Miles Killebrew.

The 28-year-old has been competing for the starting job this offseason alongside 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett and last year’s backup quarterback Mason Rudolph. The Steelers are in win-now mode with or without Ben Roethlisberger, so regardless of Pickett's progression the team is going to start whoever gives them the best chance to compete.

Either way, the Steelers are happy with Kenny Pickett’s development over the past month in just about every way possible. But regardless of what they’ve seen from him and his meteoric rise — from the first week of camp to being nearly perfect in two preseason games — means little to nothing when it comes to the regular season.

While it says PIckett is making a late push to pass Trubisky and start Week 1, the story mentions the team is taking it slow with Pickett, so it may not be quite enough. He took only third-team reps throughout the summer and halfway through training camp. Those have been bumped up to second-team now, and he’s even seeing more first-team reps, the story went on to say. As the story also pointed out, Pickett may not start Week 1, but the odds are pretty favorable he's going to play at some point this season.
