It looks like the Raiders’ bid to end their losing streak against the Chiefs will unfold without the help of running back Josh Jacobs.

Jacobs was listed as questionable for the Christmas game in Kansas City and Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that he will be inactive for the game. Jacobs has a quad injury and an illness.

Monday’s game would be the second in a row that Jacobs has missed. It's a tough break for owners who waited with hope that Jacobs would play as all the reports leading up to today seemed positive. It looks like White, Abdullah and Bolden will split up the RB duties today in a tough matchup against the Chiefs.

Antonio Pierce said if he was a betting man, he would bet that both Raiders RB Josh Jacobs and LT Kolton Miller are back for the Chiefs game on Monday.

Zamir White did a good job of holding down the fort last week, notching 16 half-PPR points on 20 opportunities. He will likely return to clean-up duties with Josh Jacobs returning to his bellcow role, making Jacobs an easy click if he is cleared.

With Jacobs out, we would more than likely see a heavy rotation that will feature three backs, with Zamir White leading the way. White should be considered a desperation play as an RB3.

Jacobs misses another day. As we reported from ESPN, the Raiders aren't planning on adding a RB before Thursday game. But, it's unclear if the team is expecting Jacobs to play or if they will roll with a committee of White and Abdullah.

He played 34 of 54 snaps before walking to the training room in the fourth quarter. ESPN reported earlier today that the Raiders didn't plan to add another running back before their Week 15 game, which is Thursday night against the Chargers. The DNP certainly doesn't start the week off well for owners, but we'll likely have to wait another day or two to get a better idea about Jacobs' status for TNF.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reported the Raiders aren't planning to sign or call up another back ahead of Thursday's game. Obviously that could mean one of two things, they are comfortable with White and Abdullah likely splitting the workload if Jacobs can't play, or Jacobs will be OK to play. We'll have to wait for the injury report to come out, but obviously the timing isn't good at all with a Thursday game and the fantasy playoffs getting under way.

“It’s going to be hard for me to say that until I have an opportunity to see him,” Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said after his team's preseason finale at the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday. “Obviously, his conditioning and just the way his body feels will play a role in that, too. The goal will be to get him in and get going and we’ll do the right thing -- whatever the right thing is.

“If there needs to be a [set] number of plays early in the season, then that’s it. If there’s not, then there’s not. I don’t think any of us will know the answer to that yet.”

In Jacobs' absence, second-year back White got the bulk of the first-team reps and carries, finishing the preseason with 86 yards and a touchdown while averaging 3.3 yards per carry. The Raiders also added Williams in training camp, and the eight-year veteran responded with 54 rushing yards on six carries with a 24-yard TD in the exhibition finale at Dallas, perhaps giving the Raiders staff something else to think about as cutdown day looms, the story said. The RB room that also includes vets Abdullah and Bolden as well as youngsters Sincere McCormick, Brittain Brown and Darwin Thompson. It remains to be seen, but White could be in store for a few extra touches at least early on in the season.

While the Colts let Jonathan Taylor seek a trade, league sources say the Raiders have shown no interest in trading their star RB Josh Jacobs. Jacobs hasn’t signed his tender, and no deal is imminent to get him into camp. The NFL rushing champ’s status for Week 1 remains to be determined.

The Raiders have been pretty mum on the subject, even though the season opener is right around the corner. The team did sign Damien Williams recently, but he doesn't project to have any impact on the team's decision with their RB1. Jacobs has now slipped out of the top-10 running backs in 4for4's rankings due to his uncertainty for Week 1.

It's a good move by Las Vegas as the depth behind Josh Jacobs —who is still away from the team— was looking pretty thin. This is probably not very closely tied to Jacobs' holdout, so there's not much to take away here. Zamir White remains the "best" arbitrage pick for those looking to get a piece of this backfield.
