Updated 10/28/18
Player | Position | Team | Injury | Timetable For Recovery | Potential Replacement | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Sony Michel | RB | Patriots | Sprained Knee | DOUBTFUL FOR WEEK 8 | James White | Michel has been able to return to practice, but the expectation still is that he will not suit up against the Bills on Monday night. |
Rob Gronkowski | TE | Patriots | Low Back Injury | Questionable for Week 8 | Jacob Hollister, Dwayne Allen | Gronk is making the trip to Buffalo, which is a good sign considering he didn't travel with the team last week. He'll still need to test out his back before the game, but the expectation is that he will play Monday night. |
Cam Newton | QB | Panthers | Strained Shoulder | Removed from injury report | Taylor Heinicke | We knew this was a minor issue when Cam popped up on the injury report, so it is all systems go for Newton against the Ravens. |
Geronimo Allison | WR | Packers | Strained Hamstring | Expected to play Week 8 | Randall Cobb, Marquez Valdes-Scantling | Allison is set to make his return after dealing with hamstring issues over the past three games. Randall Cobb's status shouldn't affect Allison too much so I would say Allison is a safe play this week. |
Allen Robinson | WR | Bears | Strained Groin | NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY WEEK 8 | Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller | Robinson has been dealing a groin strain all week and it looks like the Bears will hold him out in hopes that they don't cause further irritation. Groin strains can be multi-week injuries, so keep an eye on his status early next week to see if he's trending in the right direction. |
Randall Cobb | WR | Packers | Strained Hamstring | Questionable for Week 8 | Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdes-Scantling | Cobb will test out his hamstring in warm-ups to see how he is feeling, but the expectation that he will return barring any setbacks. Aaron Rodgers will have his full compliement of weapons back for Week 8. |
Chris Thompson | RB | Reskins | Knee/Rib Injuries | Questionable for Week 8 | Adrian Peterson, Kapri Bibbs | After being able to practice in full on Friday, Thompson is going to return this Sunday against the Giants. He'll test things out before the game, but barring any setback should be good to go. |
LeSean McCoy | RB | Bills | Concussion | Questionable for Week 8 | Marcus Murphy | McCoy has yet to be cleared from the concussion protocol, but Adam Schefter reports that he his expected to play on Monday. Not a great situation to be in, so if you have a backup plan, make sure you keep an eye on McCoy's status as it should be updated today at some point. |
Josh Rosen | QB | Cardinals | Sprained Toe | Limited practice | Sam Bradford | There shouldn't be much concern here about Rosen, he should be ready to go on Sunday when the Cardinals face the Broncos. |
Marlon Mack | RB | Colts | Sprained Ankle | Questionable for Week 8 | Nyheim Hines | Mack was able to return to a full practice on Friday, so even though he is listed as questionable, he should be good to go against the Raiders. |
Keke Coutee | WR | Texans | Strained Hamstring | RULED OUT FOR TNF | Will Fuller, Bruce Ellington, Vyncint Smith | Coutee suffered a hamstring injury to the same leg that he was dealing with prior to the start of the season. There's a chance that he could potentially miss a few weeks given the injury history, but hopefully we'll get a better idea over the next few days. |
Quincy Enunwa | WR | Jets | High Ankle Sprain | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 8 | Jermaine Kearse, Rishard Matthews | Enunwa is still recovering from a high ankle sprain he suffered last week. He may need at least another week or two before returning to the field. |
Royce Freeman | RB | Broncos | Sprained Ankle | RULED OUT FOR WEEK 8 | Phillip Lindsay | Freeman hasn't been able to recover quick enough to even return to practice yet, so Lindsay will be in the RB1 conversation against the Chiefs this weekend. |
Albert Wilson | WR | Dolphins | Strained Hip | RULED OUT FOR TNF | Danny Amendola | Wilson hurt his hip against the Vikings and was ruled out shortly there after. The fact that they are already discussing whether or not he's available for the Thursday night game is not a great sign and sounds like it could be a multi-week injury. |
Robby Anderson | WR | Jets | Sprained Ankle | DOUBTFUL FOR WEEk 8 | Jermaine Kearse, Rishard Matthews | As expected, Anderson did not return to practice this week and is considered doutbful for Week 8. The Jets and Sam Darnold are going to have to piece together a receiving crew against the Bears and makes it hard to recommend anyone on the Jets offense at this point. |
Jack Doyle | TE | Colts | Hip Injury | Removed from injury report | Eric Ebron | Doyle is set to make his return in Week 8 after being out since Week 3. The Colts may look to scale his workload in his first game back, but it's a good sign for the Colts offense and Andrew Luck. |
Bilal Powell | RB | Jets | Strained Neck | PLACED ON IR | Isaiah Crowell | The lack of information after this injury is what made it concerning and now we know why. Powell underwent season ending neck surgery and although he's supposed to make a full recovery, neck surgeries for position players usually cause them to retire due to the risk of returning and re-injuring themselves. |
Matt Breida | RB | 49ers | High Ankle Sprain | Questionable for Week 8 | Raheem Mostert | Breida has been able to practice in a limited fashion and the fact that he is still going to play when he clearly didn't look close to 100% last week is a bit surprising. Adam Schefter reports that Breida will be limited, which means that |
