Patriots QB Cam Newton feeling aftereffects on hit to neck

During an appearance on WEEI on Tuesday morning, Cam Newton said his neck is still feeling the aftereffects of the shot that he took.

“My neck is only working at a degree angle that shuts off the degrees to one side,” Newton said. “My eye muscles are getting a lot of work in today. . . . I told the guys on the sideline, ‘That’s my fault and I deserved it.'”

Fantasy Impact:

Newton was well enough to remain in the game and ran for the game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter, but it sounds like the effects of the hit will be lingering for a bit, the story said. Jet safety Ashtyn Davis had a hit to his neck area that drew a penalty for roughing the passer.

Eagles ruled out WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) for Sunday against the Rams.

Fantasy Impact:

It's a bit of a crapshoot as to who the "WR2" on the offense will be, but now that he's ruled out, Brown and Goedert should get a nice boost to their bottom line. That would lock Goedert into a no-doubt TE1 role in Week 12.
