Cincinnati Enquirer: The Bengals have changed the guard this
season at tailback. Chris Perry, their 1st-round pick in 2004,
took over as featured back from Rudi Johnson, who was cut at
preseason's end. Dede Dorsey is out for the season with a
hamstring injury. The Bengals terminated the contract Saturday of
their leading rusher from 2007, Kenny Watson, though Watson is
expected to be re-signed soon. But the biggest move was the
addition Tuesday of the 2005 draft's #4 overall pick Cedric Benson, who had three star-crossed seasons in Chicago before being
cut loose in June. Benson made his Bengals debut Sunday at Dallas,
running 10 times for 30 yards, including an impressive streak of
six consecutive carries in the 2nd quarter for 25 yards. "I want
to get more in-depth in the playbook and play better and get a
bigger role," Benson said after the game. "I was pretty pumped up
after getting the first couple of touches." Lewis liked what he
saw. "Cedric did some good things running the football," Lewis
said.
