The 49ers are starting QB Troy Smith because he beat the Rams earlier in the season when he passed for 356 yards, the most by a San Francisco quarterback since 2004. If he doesn’t produce in what is essentially a playoff game for both teams, the 49ers can always return to Alex Smith, who probably is playing his final games in San Francisco.

Fantasy Impact:

It's a bit of a crapshoot as to who the "WR2" on the offense will be, but now that he's ruled out, Brown and Goedert should get a nice boost to their bottom line. That would lock Goedert into a no-doubt TE1 role in Week 12.
