Lions RB Jahvid Best will have six more weeks — at least — to try to return from the concussion problems that have sidelined him since the middle of last season.
The Lions placed Best on the reserve physically unable to perform list Monday, the most prominent transaction in a busy day as they pared their roster to the 75-man limit.
Best cannot return before the Lions’ Oct. 22 Monday night game against the Bears.
“That’s within the range of where the doctors wanted him to be, so it made it an easy decision — or an easier decision. It’s not an easy decision, but it made it an easier decision,” Schwartz said. “But we’ll just wait and see. Like I keep saying, he’s looked extremely good in all his physical stuff and as soon as we can get him back and get clearance we will.”
