The Giants intend to let RB Andre Brown split carries with David Wilson in their back field, so he’ll probably get a second-round tender ($2.02 million). Although his original round is a fourth-rounder and he’s had injury issues, so maybe this is where they try to save a few bucks, thinking no one will want to give him big money and surrender a pick that high. I’m not sure it’s worth the risk, though. For $700,000 more, why not just lock up a player who might start on Opening Day?
At the very least, Brown will be the Giants' goal line back, which puts a significant dent in David Wilson's upside. Brown performed well in 2012, so he could end up in a RBBC with Wilson, who doesn't seem built for feature back duties anyway.
