Browns RB Dion Lewis helped his case to become the No. 2 back behind Trent Richardson with a solid performance during Thursday night's 27-19 preseason victory over the Rams.
Lewis got things rolling with a 31-yard kickoff return and converted a third-down on the opening drive with a 9-yard blast. On the second possession, he caught a short screen pass from Brandon Weeden and sprinted up the left side for 16 yards before he was forced out of bounds.
OC Norv Turner recently compared Lewis to Darren Sproles, whom he coached while in San Diego. Trent Richardson will be the workhorse, but Lewis could rotate in as a change-of-pace back, a la Sproles and LaDainian Tomlinson from a few years ago.
