Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 10 Targets
Week 9 was a good one for streamers, with Marcus Mariota, Derek Carr, Matt Cassel and Blake Bortles all inside the top-12 at the QB position. Our streamers finished QB5, QB9 and QB17 on the week. Tyrod Taylor could have finished much better than QB16, but he only threw 12 passes in a win over the Dolphins.
Marcus Mariota was a strong option coming into the week, and he delivered. He faced an incredibly easy New Orleans matchup, and he had been strong when healthy earlier in the season. Matt Cassell, however, had his first startable week, scoring nearly three times more points than he had in either of his other two starts. Cassel has equally soft matchups upcoming at Tampa Bay and home against Miami, so he might be a streaming option until Tony Romo is back. Personally, I am still skeptical.
For the year, our optimal streaming QB is averaging 16.81 points per game, and overall our streaming QBs are averaging 16.43 points per game.* That would rank them QB16 and 18 on the season. Our optimal streamer has finished inside the top-10 four times out of seven games they’ve finished – we’re missing two weeks due to injuries.
Now, on to Week 10. As always, our primary focus will be on each quarterback’s fantasy points per attempt, because of how well that correlates with fantasy production, and on aFPA for the defenses they face.
Week 10 QB Streaming Targets
Blake Bortles (JAC) at Baltimore Ravens
Facing the Baltimore Ravens is a cure for all that ails a quarterback, and it projects to be gold for an underrated passer in Blake Bortles, who is 16th in the league in fantasy points per attempt. We prefer QBs playing at home, but you can’t pass on Bortles facing the Ravens defense, ranked 31st in aFPA to opposing QBs.
Bortles is available in 48 percent of Yahoo public leagues and he is my optimal streamer of the week.
